Week 3. Awaken - Discover the illusions that shape your perceptions.

This week we’ll shine light on where we misunderstood life.
In our search for growth and the desire to move through challenges, many of us have—often without realizing it—been led by beliefs that don’t hold up.

Let’s bring clarity to those misunderstandings. And no, you don’t need to feel ashamed or wrong for not seeing it sooner. There’s room now to pause and choose again.

Together, we’ll look at the subtle ways these misperceptions have shaped your experience and kept old patterns in place. As they come into view, something opens up—space to breathe, space to shift.

You’ll see: what you misunderstood doesn’t define you. And sometimes, it’s in seeing the error that the real insight lands. That’s where the change begins.

Week 4. Embrace surrender - Learn about the power of continuous release.

Our ego often feels like a sturdy fortress—closed off, defensive, hard to penetrate. Over time, we've grown attached to it, as if it’s protecting us. But in truth, it keeps us confined.

Often, we don’t even realize we’re being held psychologically hostage by our own thinking. It’s like an inner version of Stockholm Syndrome—we remain loyal to outdated beliefs and patterns, even when they hurt or limit us. These walls once gave us a sense of safety, but now they hold us back from being truly free.

This week, we’ll explore the ways we unconsciously defend and protect ourselves. Letting go doesn’t mean giving up. It means softening, relaxing, and learning to trust life again. This isn’t an overnight shift—it takes patience and presence. But each step you take begins to open the door.

Emotions like anger, sadness, and fear often arise when our focus is in the wrong place. But when you begin to take down the walls—brick by brick—you’ll notice space returning: space to feel, to breathe, to rest in who you truly are

Week 6. Your true nature - Understanding who you truly are.

In this part of the course, we’ll turn inward—toward the heart of your being—to uncover what’s always been true. You’ll begin to sense that love, unity, and connection aren’t abstract ideas—they’re the foundation of who you are.

Let’s start here: everything is okay. It always has been, and it always will be. Life isn’t against you—it’s on your side. Your natural state is one of peace, love, and ease. While most of us look for clarity, relief, or truth outside ourselves, the real answers are found within. This isn’t just a comforting idea—it’s deeply, actually true.

As we explored in Week 2, there is no separate, external world. The false self will try to keep your attention on what’s “out there.” But the only place you’ll find lasting peace is by looking inward. When you do, you’ll begin to feel the interconnectedness of all things—and realize that this truth has always lived inside you, waiting to be remembered.

As you gently shift your attention back to yourself, you’ll experience the richness of your being—free from distraction or drama. Yes, resistance might show up. The ego might try to pull you away again. That’s normal. With kindness and patience, you’ll learn to come home to yourself, over and over again.

The qualities you rediscover—love, compassion, clarity—will start to guide you. The old illusions begin to fade, and in their place, a deeper connection arises: to yourself, to others, and to life itself. Through self-love and gentle acceptance, you become more of who you truly are—a steady presence of clarity and calm, offering real impact in a world that needs it.

Week 7: The core of suffering - Gain insight into emotional challenges.

This chapter provides clarity and the necessary tools to navigate the realms of suffering, showing that you can choose not to suffer and tap into the ever present inner guidance.

What is the reason we suffer? Whether it's stress, anxiety, depression, anger, guilt, or loneliness, what lies at the core of it? We can explore this question thoroughly, even tracing it back to the start of our existence, but for now, let's stay focused.

In this part of the course, we won’t go too deep into philosophical or spiritual concepts; instead, we'll keep things straightforward and relatable. Let's approach it in a way that's easy to understand and relevant to our lives.

Why is it that one person suffers while another seems to handle similar situations with ease? This question marks the beginning of our exploration.

We'll examine the mechanics of suffering, seeking a deeper understanding of what it truly means for each of us. This involves closely examining our busy minds, emotions, and physical sensations that contribute to how we experience suffering.

The intelligence called life, the Universe, or whatever you want to call it, guides us on our journey, providing us with both beautiful and challenging experiences. How much we trust this inner power determines our level of suffering. Our human tendency is to cling to desires and avoid unpleasant experiences.

Week 8. Resistance - Why we struggle against what Is.

Resistance is the stubborn and formidable sidekick of suffering. It has us fiercely defend our beliefs, stick to our old ways, and resist new ideas. In this part of the course, we explore our resistance landscape. It’s the parts we prefer to keep to ourselves. It’s where we feel justified, and negative thinking has us hijacked, fighting for what we believe is right.

Together, let's boldly and lovingly face the triggers that push us into resistance, make us cringe, stress us out, or even panic. We'll confront the parts where anger, mistrust, and resentment take center stage. We look into where we strategize, manipulate and project our emotions. Anything that prevents us from having to feel what we prefer not to feel.

Letting go of resistance is vital to overcoming suffering, and it demands radical honesty and practice. Choosing and accepting pain, courage, and endurance are crucial components in this process. The path may be challenging, but the rewards are incredibly fulfilling.

Week 9. Negative internal dialogues - the ego's favorite tactic

During this part of the course, we expose and deconstruct the phenomenon of negative internal dialogues. You'll learn to see how they arise in unconscious parts of your being, and you’ll learn how to recognize and detach yourself from false narratives.

For many of us, negative internal dialogues are probably the most challenging and intriguing part of our inner world. They keep us occupied throughout our day, seemingly dictating what we think about, what we feel, and what we should focus on or prevent from happening. It is essential to recognize that although they are a natural part of your inner landscape, your engagement with them is optional.

Being caught up in inner dialogues can be very stressful for your entire system. Not only do you find ourselves struggling and fighting in our inner dialogues, but we even fight our inner dialogues themselves. Learning to dis-identify and disengage from your inner dialogues is like the breath of fresh air that the mind needs to calm down.

Staying present and allowing things to be exactly as they are, is among the tools you will receive to navigate the tumultuous landscape. What will remain is the silence that allows you to reconnect with your inner wisdom.

Week 10. The autonomic nervous system - The link between your nervous system, stress, and anxiety

This part of the program provides you with a valuable roadmap to better understand, recognize, and navigate your nervous system responses. Understanding these responses enables you to handle challenging situations in a more true and balanced way, which helps you to break the cycle of stress and resistance.

Many of us — often unknowingly — find ourselves in a heightened state of arousal and reactivity due to prolonged stress or traumatic experiences. Consequently, we may assess situations based on past trauma, rather than accurately perceiving the current context. This means that specific triggers or cues associated with a traumatic experience can activate our body's fight-or-flight response, even if the current situation doesn't warrant such a reaction.

Our brain and nervous system play a crucial role in how we perceive and interact with the world around us. They store our experiences, reinforce positive behavior and warn us about potential threats. However simple it may seem, this mechanism can greatly affect our well-being when prolonged stress or unresolved trauma are involved, causing our nervous system to go in fight or flight mode in order to stay safe.

During this week we will explore the effects of stress and trauma on your autonomic nervous system and how that informs and influences your perception of life, emotions, and energy management. Learning that a stressed nervous system doesn’t necessarily mean you are stressed can be a tremendous relief.

Week 11. DisIdentification from your false self - moving beyond stress and anxiety

Throughout our journey together, we've explored the transient nature of thoughts, emotions, and the persistent nature of the ego. We've also examined resistance and learned effective ways to let that go. In this chapter, we'll confront the areas where, although not always fully conscious, we willingly buy into our ego because we believe we need the deceptive safety it provides.

The process of dis-identification is about recognizing what we are NOT and disregarding any suggestions or ideas that lead us away from peace and harmony. Together, we will expose our fears and inner troublemakers to gain a very clear understanding of what we are not and consequently restore our sense of inner peace, as that is where our true nature lies.

Letting go of the illusionary safety the false self has offered us for most of our lives can trigger us into fear, resistance, blame, guilt, and denial. You will learn how not to engage, stay put, and simply stay present. We'll approach our struggles by looking at them, not from them. This provides a perspective that can help us see through the illusory nature of problems.

Week 12. Back behind the control panel - Take back full control over your thoughts and actions

"Back behind the control panel" puts you back in your captain’s seat of true inner control. It’s like a personalized, highly intuitive control panel you see in advanced technology or spacecraft, that only you can properly understand and operate. The final destination is love and unity.

Let's take a closer look at some of the gauges on our control panel:

1. Emotions Gauge - This gauge allows you to check whether your emotions are in alignment with your true nature or not.

2. Behavioral Gauge - Allows you to identify and discern patterns of behavior that are either beneficial or detrimental to your well-being and relationships. With increased awareness of our actions, you can consciously choose to respond in more loving, constructive, and compassionate ways.

3. Perception Gauge - Empowering you to see situations from different perspectives, this gauge keeps track of how you interpret and understand the world around you.

Now, let's explore a couple of the buttons on our control panel:

1. Acceptance Button - Granting you the ability to embrace and acknowledge your present reality, this button fosters self-compassion and resilience. Just by choosing to press it.

2. Gratitude Button - With a simple press, this button activates the appreciation for the abundance in your lives, allowing you to focus on the positives.

3 Help Button – When you face challenges, this button lets you ask for help and connect with others for support.

4. Defeat Button - Recognizing that we all face struggles, this button allows you to admit defeat, give control back to life, and ask for guidance. Learning to use this inner control panel requires practice. The more skilled you become, the more you unlock the immense power of true self-mastery.

During this week, we learn to transcend our perceived limitations and break free from the confines of our own perceptions.

Theme 3. Awakening to the illusions

I want to emphasize that everything is well – it always has been and always will be. Life and love are on your side, supporting you rather than working against you. Your natural state is peaceful, loving, and blissful. Most of us seek happiness, truth, or relief outside ourselves, but the real path to inner peace lies within. That’s not just some spiritual notion; it's genuinely true.


As we explored in chapter 2, there's no separate external world. The false self tries to keep your focus on the ‘external’ world. Yet, looking inside is the only way to find lasting peace, fulfillment, and understanding. You'll feel the inherent interconnectedness of all things, realizing that this wisdom resides within all of us, waiting to be remembered. It is already here.


As you learn to turn your attention inward, you'll experience the richness of your being, free from external distractions. Along the way, you might face challenges and resistance from the ego, trying to divert your focus outward. Don’t worry about it. It’s a natural part of the process, and with persistence, you can gently guide your awareness back to your authentic self.


As you rediscover your genuine qualities, like love, compassion, and unity, they'll become guiding principles in your life. The illusions that once clouded your vision will fade, making space for a deep sense of interconnectedness with all beings and the universe. You have the wisdom within to bring positive change and foster harmonious relationships in the world. We'll examine the mechanics of suffering, seeking a deeper understanding of what it truly means for each of us. This involves closely examining our busy minds, emotions, and physical sensations that contribute to how we experience suffering.


The intelligence called life, the Universe, or whatever you want to call it, guides us on our journey, providing us with both beautiful and challenging experiences. How much we trust this inner power determines our level of suffering. Our human tendency is to cling to desires and avoid unpleasant experiences.

Theme 8. Letting go of resistance

Resistance is the stubborn and formidable sidekick of suffering. It has us fiercely defend our beliefs, stick to our old ways, and resist new ideas. In this part of the course, we explore our resistance landscape. It’s the parts we prefer to keep to ourselves. It’s where we feel justified, and negative thinking has us hijacked, fighting for what we believe is right.


Together, let's boldly and lovingly face the triggers that push us into resistance, make us cringe, stress us out, or even panic. We'll confront the parts where anger, mistrust, and resentment take center stage. We look into where we strategize, manipulate and project our emotions. Anything that prevents us from having to feel what we prefer not to feel.


Letting go of resistance is vital to overcoming suffering, and it demands radical honesty and practice. Choosing and accepting pain, courage, and endurance are crucial components in this process. The path may be challenging, but the rewards are incredibly fulfilling.

Theme 9. Inner dialogues; the ego's favorite playground

During this part of the course, we expose and deconstruct the phenomenon of inner dialogues. We learn to see how they arise in unconscious parts of our being, and we’ll learn how to recognize and detach ourselves from false narratives.


For many of us, inner dialogues are probably the most challenging and intriguing part of our inner world. They keep us occupied throughout our day, seemingly dictating what we think about, what we feel, and what we should focus on or prevent from happening. It is essential to recognize that although they are a natural part of our inner landscape, our engagement with them is optional.


Being caught up in inner dialogues can be very stressful for our entire system. Not only do we find ourselves struggling and fighting in our inner dialogues, but we even fight our inner dialogues themselves. Learning to dis-identify and disengage from our inner dialogues is like the breath of fresh air that the mind needs to calm down.


Staying present and allowing things to be exactly as they are, is among the tools you will receive to navigate the tumultuous landscape. What will remain is the silence that allows you to reconnect with your inner wisdom.

Theme 10. The autonomous nervous system

This part of the program provides you with a valuable roadmap to better understand, recognize, and navigate your nervous system responses. Understanding these responses enables you to handle challenging situations in a more true and balanced way, which helps you to break the cycle of stress and resistance.


Many of us — often unknowingly — find ourselves in a heightened state of arousal and reactivity due to prolonged stress or traumatic experiences. Consequently, we may assess situations based on past trauma, rather than accurately perceiving the current context. This means that specific triggers or cues associated with a traumatic experience can activate our body's fight-or-flight response, even if the current situation doesn't warrant such a reaction.


Our brain and nervous system play a crucial role in how we perceive and interact with the world around us. They store our experiences, reinforce positive behavior and warn us about potential threats. However simple it may seem, this mechanism can greatly affect our well-being when prolonged stress or unresolved trauma are involved, causing our nervous system to go in fight or flight mode in order to stay safe.


During this week we will explore the effects of stress and trauma on our autonomic nervous system and how that informs and influences our perception of life, emotions, and energy management. Learning that a stressed nervous system doesn’t necessarily mean you are stressed can be a tremendous relief.

Theme 11. DisIdentification from your false self

Throughout our journey together, we've explored the transient nature of thoughts, emotions, and the persistent nature of the ego. We've also examined resistance and learned effective ways to let that go. In this chapter, we'll confront the areas where, although not always fully conscious, we willingly buy into our ego because we believe we need the deceptive safety it provides.

The process of dis-identification is about recognizing what we are NOT and disregarding any suggestions or ideas that lead us away from peace and harmony. Together, we will expose our fears and inner troublemakers to gain a very clear understanding of what we are not and consequently restore our sense of inner peace, as that is where our true nature lies.


Letting go of the illusionary safety the false self has offered us for most of our lives can trigger us into fear, resistance, blame, guilt, and denial. You will learn how not to engage, stay put, and simply stay present. We'll approach our struggles by looking at them, not from them. This provides a perspective that can help us see through the illusory nature of problems.

Theme 12. Back behind the control panel

"Behind the control panel" puts us back in our captain’s seat of true inner control. It’s like a personalized, highly intuitive control panel you see in advanced technology or spacecraft, that only you can properly understand and operate. The final destination is love and unity.


Let's take a closer look at some of the gauges on our control panel:


1. Emotions Gauge - This gauge allows us to check whether our emotions are in alignment with our true nature or not.

2. Behavioral Gauge - Allows us to identify and discern patterns of behavior that are either beneficial or detrimental to our well-being and relationships. With increased awareness of our actions, we can consciously choose to respond in more loving, constructive, and compassionate ways.

3. Perception Gauge - Empowering us to see situations from different perspectives, this gauge keeps track of how we interpret and understand the world around us.


Now, let's explore a couple of the buttons on our control panel:


1. Acceptance Button - Granting us the ability to embrace and acknowledge our present reality, this button fosters self-compassion and resilience. Just by choosing to press it.

2. Gratitude Button - With a simple press, this button activates the appreciation for the abundance in our lives, allowing us to focus on the positives.

3. Help Button - When we encounter challenges, this button allows us to ask for help and open up to others, fostering connection and support.

4. Defeat Button - Recognizing that we all face struggles, this button allows us to admit defeat, give control back to life, and ask for guidance. Learning to use this inner control panel requires practice. The more skilled we become, the more we unlock the immense power of true self-mastery.

Hi I'm Kars van der Veen, a self-help teacher on issues around happiness, freedom, relationships, stress, tension, meditation, and self-realization. I have a background in physiotherapy, where I worked as a myofascial specialist, addressing overload issues in muscles and connective tissue. In addition to owning a successful private practice, I worked as an event manager, hosting events in the field of self-development. I see myself as a continuous scholar in the university of life. Furthermore, I'm is a lucky father of 3 and a passionate homeschool teacher.

My Background

I've always been intrigued by how, why, and where tension or stress is stored in the body and the role of the mind there. As a physiotherapist I wanted to understand the root cause of stress and tension. While I truly enjoyed the physical and mental support aspects of my job, I ran into the limitations of the profession. It didn't allow me to integrate my knowledge of self-realization, metaphysics, or meditation to a satisfying degree. My desire to integrate life’s intelligence increased over the years. Until at some point, I decided it was enough; I sold my practice and left my comfortable life. I started traveling the world with my wife and deepened my search for inner truth. My interest in finding the root of suffering, stress, and tension was always present in the background......
